  Details to submit a project

In order to carry out its mission of helping improve the education through different channels as well as through the Brothers of Christian Instruction (FIC) [Frères de l’Instruction Chrétienne], the Foundation urges interested individuals or organizations to submit project proposals for financing and partnership.

Currently the Foundation only finances projects with a budget equal or inferior to twenty thousands dollars (U$20,000.00).

Eligibility Criteria

The organizations submitting an application for a grant should meet the following admission criteria:

a) Qualification of the Organization
b) Qualification of the Project
c) Financing arrangement and budget of the Project
d) Orientation of the Project

a) Qualification of the Organization
To have access to the Foundation funds, organizations submitting a project proposal must be :
- Canadian, American, Haitian or from the country where the project will be carried. The organizations must be lawfully registered in their jurisdiction and give proof that they can manage their own affairs
- Active in the field of education, social or economic affairs
- Financially viable with solid management structures and willing to share the cost of the projects that they are proposing

b) Qualification of the Project
The Foundation financial resources and grants are allocated in priority to projects which help the development, the accessibility and/or the improvement of the quality of education at the FIC institutions in Haiti. Projects should last a minimum of eight weeks without going over two years. The Foundation does not give grants for conferences, seminars, festivals, excursions or other similar activities.

c) Financing and Budget of the Project
The Foundation will give the organization implementing the project a financial contribution up to three dollars (75% of total) for each dollar that the latter would gather from other sources of financing.
The Foundation will take into account the capacity of the organization to collect funds equal to the required minimum.
The budget for the proposal must confirm the financial and economic viability of the project.
In-kind contributions  by the organization should not be more than 18% of the total cost of the project.
Cost for administering the project should not be more than 15% of the total cost of the project.
The Foundation only finances direct costs such as equipment, transportation, salary of personnel involved in the project when applicable and one third (1/3) of the organization administration costs directly related to the project.

d) Orientation of the Project

The Expected Areas of Action

The projects admissible for financing should cover the following themes and focus on one of them in particular :

  • Social integration through education

  • Transfer of professional and intellectual knowledge; provision of education and schooling (primary and secondary)

  • Social and economic development

  • Promotion of the sentiment of belonging to the host community in general.

The Categories

The projects that could be submitted to the Foundation belong to one category :

  • Category A includes projects requiring grants from the Foundation in the context of carrying its social mission without any economic contribution to the resources of the Foundation.
